ROBOCON'20
For Robocon 2020’ this year students from various GTU affiliated colleges took part. Amongst them, a pack of 31 enthusiastic students was selected to form GRC Team 2019-20. The year was started with lots of excitement and hopes to continue the winning legacy of GRC. After much long training and hard work, finally, the team was representing GTU in National Robocon 2020 hosted by IIT-Delhi.
About Theme
ABU Robocon is known for bringing culture and robotics together. This year the host country Tokyo had set a theme of playing traditional rugby 7’s game with the help of robots. The game was between Red and Blue teams. Each team was supposed to make two robots known as Pass Robot (PR) and Try Robot (TR). The two robots can be either manual or automatic. The PR starts from the PR Start Zone. The PR picks up one Try Ball from the Ball Rack and passes the Try Ball from the Passing Zone to TR located in the Receiving Zone. The TR starts from the TR Start Zone and moves into the Receiving Zone to receive the Try Ball from PR. The TR then goes along the five defending Obstacles to score the Try in one of the five Try Spots. After a successful Try by TR, a kick step can be taken from the Kicking Zone to make the Goal. The game continues until all the seven Kick Balls are used or when the 3 minutes passed at most.

Team 2020
To aim National Robocon 2020, the team formation was started in June 2019 with students talented in different fields. Here in GRC, every student was groomed to its best and the final team was formed. The first two stages of the competition were cleared successfully and we were qualified for nationals. To achieve something you need to cope up with all the setbacks encountered, similar was the case that happened due to the global pandemic and spread of novel coronavirus. Every fieldwork was struck and the competition was now organized live online. With all the hard work, focus, and winning spirit GRC secured 1st Runner up in DD National Robocon and represented India in ABU Robocon International Suva, Fiji. Giving India a global representation in robotics, GRC was awarded TOYOTA MOTOR’S BEST DESIGN AWARD.
